Description

HELIOSWATCH V4A - The Solar Wristwatch with Stainless Steel Case

Our popular HELIOSWATCH with polyamide case is now available with a case made of stainless steel 1.4401 (AISI 316). The epithet V4A refers to the group of stainless, austenitic, non-magnetic chromium-nickel-molybdenum steels to which the stainless steel belongs. The case is made using a 3D printing process that is similar to a sintering process and leaves a characteristic porous surface.

The dial of the V4A is made of natural anodised aluminium with black laser inscription. The visibility of the shadow for reading the time is optimal.

Another innovation is the compass: the original HELIOSWATCH is equipped with an encapsulated, liquid-damped compass, while the stainless steel version is equipped with a ruby-bearing magnetic needle that points in a northward direction without inertia.

Operation is simple: the gnonom is unfolded by turning the crown, the compass is aligned to due north and the time is read.

Admittedly the HELIOS WATCH displays its own unique time, naturally occurring solar time. When the Sun is at its highest elevation at midday, it displays 12 noon solar time. It is then true noon, which divides the day into two equal halves, before noon (morning) and after noon. This time relates to the longitude on which we are currently located and it is therefore also called local apparent time (LAT).

If you want to display Central European Summer Time (CEST), then choose the HELIOS WATCH V4A City. This model of the sundial wristwatch is calculated based on your location and can display an approximate CEST.  The watch face will be individually laser-engraved for you, even the town and the geographic coordinates will be included. The gnomon will also be adjusted for the appropriate latitude (34°N - 60°N).

If your desired location does not correspond with the order address, please inform us of the exact intended location for your sundial wristwatch during the order process. You can also request that we display Central European Time (CET) or solar time (LAT) for your location. Also a different zone time (i.e. GMT or US standard times) can be displayed.
