"From Five to Nine" Sundial Kit

In the Solar Valley of ORNAMENTA 2024, the luminous dial sundial "From Nine to Five", built by us with an impressive 2 metre diameter, has been newly installed in the towns of Pforzheim, Nagold and Mühlacker in collaboration with the regional tower clock manufacturer PERROT. True to its name, it displays Solar Time from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the core working hours in the western world. This three-part kit is a replica on a scale of 1:12.5 and can be assembled into a fully functional sundial in a few simple steps without any tools.

Typographer, designer and author Charlotte Rohde from Berlin provided the artistic input for the luminous dial sundial "From Nine to Five" and focuses on hyperfemininity, economies of trust and pop culture in her work. She gave the kit the name "From Five to Nine", a twist on the original, meaning 5pm to 9pm. You can find out what this is all about in the handout, which you can download below.
