MAGELLAN XXL Globe Sundial

The Globe Sundial MAGELLAN XXL with a 350mm globe made of bronze is the big sister of the MAGELLAN with 160mm globe diameter made of stainless steel. Due to its attractive size and stable construction, the XXL version is particularly suitable for parks, company entrances and public areas, but also for the spacious private garden.

The noon adjusting arm is positioned towards the Sun until a light slit is projected onto the time ring. This allows the reading of the Central European Time (CET/CEST) or any other standard time of the world on the 5 minute scale. It is a real world time sundial.

The sunlight penetrates the noon adjusting arm through a small slit, is reflected to the side and illuminates small light segments. You can read off the date at the most brightly lit light segment. Underneath this segment you will see the sub-solar point on the Earth’s surface. This is the location at which the Sun is at this moment in its zenith.

Adjusted exactly for its location’s latitude and longitude, the MAGELLAN globe takes up the same position as the Earth. The sunlight continually illuminates the steel globe just like our planet, so that day and night are clearly visible. The terminators of sunrise and sunset can also be seen.

The globe is crafted in demanding craftsmanship in the traditional bronze foundry KunstgussKastel coveted by renowned artists.

The sundial is already set up for the geographic coordinates of the desired location. The globe is supplied with a 100mm diameter stainless steel stand and a adjustable foot. The foot can be fixed on a foundation with the enclosed screws and dowels. On request, we can also supply a base plate with a diameter of 300m, on which the globe sundial is fixed.
